The standard Corolla model range included the three-door hatchback Corolla FX, four-door sedan and five-door station wagon models. A 4WD variant of the sedan and station wagon was also available with a 1.6 liter petrol or 2.0 liter diesel engine. The E110 wagons and the related van continued in the Japanese market alongside the newer Corolla and Sprinter Carib models. Passenger wagons were available in 'G-Touring', 'L-Touring' and high-performance 'BZ-Touring' guises, while "Van" and "Business Wagon" models were basically stripped out wagons with leaf-sprung solid axle rear suspensions. Business Wagons typically had slightly higher equipment levels than simpler vans. The Corolla Touring Wagon continued until 2000, while both commercial versions continued to serve the Japanese market until July 2002.
Toyota Corolla is a line of subcompact and compact cars produced since 1966. The Corolla Matrix, better known just as the Matrix, shares the E120 and E140 platforms, and is considered the hatchback/sport wagon counterpart of the North American Corolla sedan, as the European/Australasian Corolla hatchback is not sold there. Toyota frequently combines the sales figures of the Corolla wagon and Matrix. In Australia, only the 3K powered 2-door KE20 was available as a sedan and wagon / panelvan. The brakes were single system with no booster, solid discs on the front and rear drums. Front sway bar but no rear sway bar. Parts are not compatible with later models.
Toyota redesigned the Tercel for May 1982. The "Corolla" part of the name was dropped, becoming simply "Tercel" in all markets. It was available in three- or five-door hatchback models or a four-door station wagon. The station wagon, known in Japan as the Sprinter Carib, was introduced in August 1982. The wagon was also available with four-wheel drive. In Japan, a four-wheel-drive sedan was also available, it too remained in production alongside the wagon version even after the introduction of the third generation Tercel. Standard front-wheel drive vehicles came with either a three-speed automatic or a four- or five-speed manual transmission.
