Nissan AD is a station wagon as well as a compact van, built since 1982. The wagon was sold as the Sunny AD Van at Nissan Satio Store and as the Pulsar AD Van at Nissan Cherry Store. AD came with three engines; the 1.3 and 1.5-litre carburetted E13S and E15S and the 1.7-litre CD17 diesel engine. The transmissions were either a four- or five-speed manual transmission, with the availability of a three-speed automatic for the bigger of the gasoline options. Power outputs for 1984 models in Japan are 75 PS (55 kW), 85 PS (63 kW), and 61 PS (45 kW) respectively. The rear suspension was designed for commercial usage, so it used a simple leaf spring setup and wasn't intended for ride quality.
Nissan Prairie also know as the Nissan Stanza Wagon introduced in Japan in the year 1981. The Prairie resembled a tall station wagon/estate with the addition of sliding side doors. It was available with five seats, though seven were available. It shares the Nissan Sunny platform, while using the powertrain from the Nissan Stanza. It offered the Japanese buyers a spacious, flexible passenger/cargo arrangement that complied with Japanese Government dimension regulations and used small displacement engines that offered Japanese buyers options with regards to annual road tax obligations.
