Mitsubishi Space Wagon is a passenger car. The Space Wagon was thus a model for the Vans Renault Espace or Chrysler Voyager, which was released a year later. The second generation of the Space Wagon was offered from autumn 1991 with a thoroughly reworked body and two ottomotors and a diesel. A 1.8-liter engine with 90 kW and a 2.0-liter engine were now available. The latter largely corresponds to the 75 kW engine of the predecessor model, but now with 16 valves and a power increased to 98 kW.

A single 1.8-litre GLX version, with manual or automatic transmission, was assembled from CKD kits in New Zealand by importer Todd Motors. From June 1984, a version with permanent four-wheel drive was also offered for the two-liter engined model. This version could reach 175 km/h (109 mph), and was also available with the 3-speed automatic.
