Mitsubishi Motors introduced the Mitsubishi Ek on October 11, 2001, is a Japanese kei car. According to the company, the name stands for "excellent minicar".
In the first generation, Mitsubishi Ek Wagon was launched on October 11, 2001, Ek Sport was launched on September 2, 2002, Ek Classy was launched on May 26, 2003, Ek Active was launched on May 25, 2004. On December 20, 2004, a facelifted Ek Wagon was launched and Ek Classy was discontinued on December 20, 2005.
On September 13, 2006, the second generation Ek Wagon and Ek Sport were released and The Ek Active was discontinued.
On June 6, 2013, the third generation Ek Wagon and Ek Sport(Ek Custom) were released. In 2001 Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry provided it the "Good Design Award". It is Mitsubishi's highest volume model in the Japanese domestic market. In April 2016, MMC admitted that its employees had falsified fuel-efficiency data for the Ek Wagon, Ek Space, Nissan Dayz and Nissan Dayz Roox.
