The BMW 3 Series is a compact executive car produced in 1975 by the German automobile manufacturer Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW). It is BMW's best-selling model, accounting for around 30% of the BMW brand's yearly entire sales (excepting motorbikes).
BMW's first generation was produced with two-door Sedan in 1975 with the BMW M10 four-cylinder engine. In 1977, the BMW M20 six-cylinder engine was added to the lineup. Second generation of 3 Series, called E30 was went to sell in 1981. Third generation introduced in 1990 with four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines, with the twin cam BMW M50 six-cylinder replacing the single-cam engine used in the E30.
The fourth generation (E46) was appeared in 1998. Fifth generation was available with four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines, and the E92 M3 used a V8 engine from 2005 to 2012. The current generation (sixth generation) of BMW 3 Series arrived in showrooms in 2012
