Michelin is Just the Ticket for Paul S. Winson Coaches

Michelin is helping Paul S. Winson Coaches meet the challenges of the punishing environment of inner city school runs, private hire contracts and long-distance touring while safely delivering increased tyre mileage.

The Loughborough-based company believes that with XZE 2+ tyres, one of its luxury 53-seater VDL Bova Futuras, is seeing increased tyre life while maintaining high levels of safety and ride quality performance.

A set of 295/80 R22.5 XZE 2+ tyres were fitted to the drive axle of the coach three years ago, operating on routes in the Midlands and as part of the company’s European holiday programme, have covered more than 120,000 km over the tyres new and re-grooved life, with an average of 5mm of tread left.

Paul B. Winson, the company’s Engineering Director, says: “As a business we have to deliver 100 per cent reliability and punctuality, whether that is operating locally or touring in Europe. The XZE 2+ tyres have proved to be hard-wearing and reliable, whilst ensuring an exceptional ride quality with minimal cabin noise.”

The Michelin XZE 2+ tyres are designed for regional and national operators, offering excellent grip across a range of road conditions, while a unique rubber compound and specially designed sipes minimise stone trapping and reduce tread wear.

The company has adopted an all-Michelin XZE 2+ policy across its fleet of 30 coaches, executive midi-coaches and bus fleet managed in-house by the company’s own team of Michelin-trained technicians.

Regular inspections ensure Paul S. Winson Coaches meets all duty of care responsibilities, while the company also benefits from access to ATS Euromaster’s fleet of 1,000 mobile service vehicles which provide emergency assistance at the roadside in the event of a tyre-related breakdown.

“Passenger safety is at the heart of what we do and our partnership with Michelin and our local ATS Euromaster service centre gives us total peace of mind. With an increasing number of contracts requiring us to have auditable fleet records, Michelin’s tyre inspections and technical support help us meet those safety requirements,” concludes Mr Winson.
