A refrigerator truck (Also Called Freezer Truck) is a van or truck designed to carry unpreserved freight at specific temperatures. Like refrigerator cars, refrigerated trucks differ from simple insulated and ventilated vans (commonly used for transporting fruit), neither of which are fitted with cooling equipment. Refrigerator trucks can be ice-cooled, prepared with any one of a variety of mechanical refrigeration systems mechanical by small dislocation diesel engines, or utilise carbon dioxide (either as dry ice or in liquid form) as a cooling agent. Most of the long-distance refrigerated transport by truck is done in articulated trucks pulling refrigerated semi-trailers. Research is done on fuel cell auxiliary power units. The first successful automatically refrigerated trucks were released by the ice cream industry in about 1925. There were around 4 million refrigerated road vehicles in use since 2010 globally.
Improved Refrigeration: Modern refers now have the option of multi-temperature refrigeration in the one trailer. This system uses two or more evaporators operating from the same power source and changeable panels are used to create compartments for hauling up to three types of cargo, each with exact temperature needed, at once.
Early Warning Systems: This technology integrated with a gauge mounted on the reefer’s dash to display the trailer’s temperature, and specify any changes that may have occurred. The Smart Reefer also allows the driver to identify when and where difficult changes may have taken place. Also available are 40 built-in alarm codes to inform the truck driver of a problem that is going to occur.
Material Hauled by Reefer Trailers: Modern reefer trailers are used to haul many products including created, photography supplies, chemicals, computers, human blood, plasma, and medical supplies. Among one of the most commonly hauled products is meat.
Environmental Considerations: The most refrigeration systems on reefer trailers used Freon, a universal refrigerant. This manufacturer of harmful, ozone-depleting CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) and HCECs (hydro chlorofluorocarbons) was restricted from being associated with new reefer trailers. There are some models of freezer truck they are as Dyna Freezer truck, Condor freezer truck, Toyoace freezer truck, Atlas freezer truck, Hiace Van freezer truck, P-Series freezer truck, Hijet Freezer truck, Clipper freezer truck and Vanette freezer truck etc.
